I don't think this is a good movie.It's far from being that.What I liked about this one are supporting actors.David Hyde Pierce and Sarah Paulson were great in their roles.I would like to say that for Zellweger but I just can't.I'm not that disappointed with the way McGregor acted but Zellweger is not good in this movie.I felt like she did this role just to earn money.McGregor is solid,he's changing accents and he's not repeating himself like Zellweger does.Her problem is that she's got too many similar roles.And her monologue at the end of the movie is so stupid and long.She talks to camera for over five minutes and director doesn't even try to put any other scene.All we can see for more then five minutes is Renée Zellweger face.I don't even want to talk about the plot or the things that characters are mentioning in this movie.Down with love.Why?I say:down with this movie.
My wife and I both enjoyed it immensely as we believe that films should be escapist. If you wish to be depressed or engage with reality read serious newspapers or magazines.This film was not quite so innocent as the original genre but genuine fun and some laugh out loud moments. The acting was excellent by all the cast and was a delight. Ewan McGregor being the weakest link in the otherwise excellent acting – he simply seemed unattractive in a weaselly sort of way.The sets and clothing was a delight and truly deserves more recognition for being a film, like the originals, that you can watch again and again
It was after watching this poor tribute to a bygone era that I made a point of seeing 'Pillow Talk' again after 50 years for this Hudson/Day comedy classic is what was probably uppermost in the mind of the director when he embarked on this project. For the most part the humour of 'Love' was cringing as were the almost obligatory sexual connotations that every modern attempt at comedy seems to think it must have to be funny.Such references were not necessary in 'Pillow '( nor were they permitted) to obtain a laugh such were the engaging personalities of Day and Hudson. The inclusion of Tony Randall however, a doyen of movies of that era and genre, was a nice touch.David Hyde Pierce is and will always be Miles Crane, but as the silly-arse intellectual he has no equal. McGregor and Zellweger have done and will continue to do much better work.
